This is an unusual variety of chalcedony, it comes from Morocco. Technically called Botryoidal Chalcedony.
I love ALL sorts of Chalcedony, especially the botryoidal formations like this. They’re not everyone’s cup of tea but if you like the unusual formations that our beautiful mother nature gives us, then you’ll like these. A nice collectors specimen, fantastic rocks and minerals.
Love them or hate them? I love them!
The name Chalcedony was probably derived from the Greek port city of Chalcedon. Varieties of Chalcedony were worked into jewellery and carvings by ancient civilizations in Egypt, Greece and Rome. As gems of antiquity, they were believed to imbue their holders with various benefits (BOS).
