Golden-yellow and deeper amber inclusions are clearly visible within the Quartz, alongside a bubble that is particularly large for a crystal measuring just 3cm.

The bubble is the main attraction, but there is more to see under UV light. The petroleum-bearing areas fluoresce, showing a bright response that contrasts with their golden appearance in ordinary light. The photographs show this piece in both lighting conditions.

Crystal Composition & Energy:

Quartz is composed of silicon dioxide. Petroleum Quartz contains sealed inclusions of naturally occurring hydrocarbons, sometimes accompanied by other fluids and a gas bubble. Enhydro is the term commonly used in the crystal trade for these fluid-bearing inclusions.

These enclosed pockets are geological time capsules, preserving small amounts of fluid from an earlier stage of the crystal’s history. Their exact age cannot be determined by appearance alone.

The petroleum inclusions respond to UV light through fluorescence, absorbing ultraviolet energy and emitting visible light. The appearance and strength of the response can vary with the UV torch used.

In crystal traditions, Clear Quartz is associated with clarity and focused intention. Petroleum Quartz is linked with motivation, personal potential and transformation, while fluid inclusions symbolise adaptability and emotional flow.

Metaphysical Properties:

• Clear Quartz is traditionally associated with clarity and focus
• Petroleum inclusions are linked with motivation and personal growth
• Enhydros symbolise adaptability and openness to change
• Chosen for reflection on potential and new beginnings
• Used in intention-setting and meditation practices

Chakra Healing:

Solar Plexus Chakra: The golden tones are associated with confidence, motivation and personal direction.

Sacral Chakra: Linked with creativity, movement and adaptability.

Crown Chakra: Quartz is associated with spiritual awareness and connection.

Ways to Use:

• Examine under gentle side lighting to locate the large bubble
• Turn slowly to explore the golden and amber inclusions
• View under a suitable UV torch to appreciate the fluorescence
• Use a magnifier to examine the smaller internal details
• Keep as a focal point for intentions around confidence and progress

Avoid strong heat, freezing temperatures and sudden temperature changes to help protect the fluid inclusions.

Perfect for:

• Those interested in Petroleum Quartz and enhydros
• Lovers of UV-reactive minerals
• A small crystal with a particularly large bubble
• Exploring trapped fluids and fluorescence in the same piece
