Gardnos Impactite Palmstone – Norway
Approx. 30g • Approx. 4–4.5cm

These unusual palmstones have been carved from genuine Impactite from the Gardnos Crater in Buskerud, Norway. Impactite is formed when a meteorite strikes the Earth with such force that the surrounding rock is shattered, melted and transformed by the intense heat and pressure of the collision.

The Gardnos impact event is believed to have occurred approximately 500 million years ago. The result is a fascinating impact breccia made up of broken fragments of rock that were fused back together during the impact process. The contrasting black, grey and white patterns seen throughout these palmstones are a direct result of that ancient event, creating a material unlike most other stones.
