This is a very special piece of Dioptase from my own private collection, and it is not something I expect to come across often. Dioptase is already a highly sought-after mineral, but this specimen has the added beauty of a natural covering of Clear Quartz crystals sitting over the Dioptase itself.

The colour is a rich green, with areas of deeper teal Dioptase visible beneath and around the Clear Quartz. What makes this piece so interesting is the way the Quartz has grown across the surface, creating a sparkling layer of small, bright crystals over the Dioptase. In places, the Clear Quartz is more transparent and glassy, allowing the colour beneath to show through. In other areas, the Quartz forms a fine druzy covering, giving the whole piece a lively, textured surface.

There is a natural pocket running through the centre of the specimen, with Dioptase and Quartz crystals lining the opening. The contrast between the vivid green-blue Dioptase, the clear crystal points, and the earthy matrix gives the piece real depth and character. It is one of those specimens that needs to be turned in the hand and looked at from different angles to be fully appreciated.

The photographs show the colour and sparkle, but they cannot fully capture how good this piece is in person. The Clear Quartz layer adds brightness, while the Dioptase gives that unmistakable saturated colour that makes this mineral so desirable.

A rare and beautiful Dioptase specimen with a natural Clear Quartz covering, excellent colour, and far more detail than photographs can realistically show.
