This is one of those pieces that really comes into its own when light is involved. Held up to a window or placed in front of a lamp, the centre glows with that warm, golden yellow, while the darker outer patterns stay bold and defined. It creates a really striking contrast.

Septarian is a natural combination of minerals that formed millions of years ago, typically made up of Calcite, Aragonite, and Limestone. The yellow crystalline areas you see here are Calcite, the darker lines and patterns are Aragonite, and the outer grey body is the original sedimentary host. It’s that mix, and the way it cracked and filled over time, that gives Septarian its distinctive, almost web-like or dragon-scale appearance.

This slice shows that structure beautifully. The patterns feel organic and slightly wild, not overly uniform, with little pockets and lines that draw your eye around the piece. It’s one of those you can keep looking at and still find new details.
