Fine golden Rutile needles criss-cross these polished Brazilian Quartz tumblestones, with thicker bundles that catch the light as you turn them. The dark, metallic patches are Hematite crystals, and they’re part of what makes this material so interesting.

What Makes a Rutile Star?

Rutile can grow along the edges of flat Hematite crystals in a specific alignment, a process known as epitaxial growth. Where the golden needles fan out from the dark Hematite, they form a starburst pattern inside the Quartz. Some of these tumbles show that radiating pattern more clearly, while others have a looser web of fine golden threads or more prominent Hematite.

Metaphysical Properties

In crystal practice, Golden Rutile is associated with focus and intention-setting, while Hematite is linked with grounding and the Root Chakra. Hold one during meditation or carry it as a pocket stone to remind you of an intention you want to keep in mind.
